Raised amid the verdant rolling hills and abundant gardens of central Virginia, siblings William McKinnon Massie and Anne Harris Massie co-founded McKinnon and Harris in 1991. As the maiden surnames of their grandmothers, both fervent gardeners, the name McKinnon and Harris felt apropos as a manifestation of the vision to create the very best in outdoor furniture. More than three decades later, the seed they once planted is flourishing—remaining family-owned and holding true to their peerless original vision.

With a clever little all-weather coat made of titanium—a metal named after the Ancient Greek Titans because of its brute strength—our furniture performs as steadfast as the hull of a ship in even the harshest of maritime environments. Our custom fabric line is woven of impeccably heathered acrylic to deliver the appeal and dimension of natural fibers whilst withstanding de rigueur of a brightly-lit life by the sea.

What began as our thirst for a humble garden bench in the back of a carriage house has matured into a veritable fantasia where designers, engineers, craftspeople, seamstresses and quality inspectors all work in harmony to transform imagination into reality. Because of our tremendous relationship between maker and medium, where every piece is made to order, we are able to customize our collections to suit site-specific project dimensions and bring bespoke requests to life.
